Suspected DUI driver arrested after one dies in Pacific Beach crash

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Wednesday night after being involved in a fatal crash in Pacific Beach, San Diego police said.

The man was driving a Corvette south on Mission Bay Drive around 9:55 p.m. when he allegedly ran a red light and slammed into a Jeep driven by a 32-year-old woman, police said. The collision occurred as the woman was trying to make a turn from northbound Mission Bay Drive onto Grand Avenue.

The Corvette’s female enger was killed. Her name and age were not released.

The driver of the Corvette suffered a broken leg and ankle. A police spokesperson said he would be facing a charge of felony DUI causing great bodily injury. His name was not immediately released.

The driver of the Jeep complained of pain, while a woman riding in the Jeep suffered a broken leg, police said.
