The final round of voting is about to begin in the race to fill a vacant seat representing South County on the Board of Supervisors.
County election officials have mailed about 370,000 ballots to District 1 residents, who have until July 1 to mail the ballot back or vote in person.
The July race is a runoff between two candidates, Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre and Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, who advanced from the April primary.
Voters can either return their ballot by mail or drop it off at one of 29 drop boxes located throughout the district.
For those who want to vote in person, seven polling centers will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Saturday, June 21. Those and another 13 will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Eligible residents have until 15 days before the election to to vote. Voter registration status can be checked at the county Registrar of Voters website.
The contest between Aguirre and McCann will decide the political majority for the board, which has been deadlocked with two Democrats and two Republicans since Supervisor Nora Vargas left office in early January.
