April and the Funk Junkies band will perform a Happy Hour fundraising concert at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach on Friday, May 30. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the concert runs from 5:30 p.m.-7:45 p.m.
Proceeds benefit Voices of our City Choir. Voices of Our City amplifies the voices of people impacted by homelessness through music and the arts.

Annual Fiesta del Sol
The 44th annual Fiesta del Sol celebration is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 31 and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 1 at Fletcher Cove Beach Park. Summer Movies in the Park series begins
San Diego’s Summer Movies in the Park series is back with a Saturday, June 7 showing of “Inside Out 2” at the Pacific Highlands Ranch Community Park. The outdoor movie is free and pre-show activities begin at 6 p.m. with showtime at dusk. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and movie snacks to enjoy. The series will continue with “The Garfield Movie” on June 13 at Carmel Valley Community Park.

Concerts at Calvary presents Classic Jazz, Four Hands
Concerts at Calvary will present “Classic Jazz, Four Hands” on Tuesday, June 10, 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church (424 Via de la Valle, Solana Beach). Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi — playing together on one piano —will perform jazz classics, boogie-woogie and show tunes for a lively evening of music. A camera trained on the piano from above will allow the audience to see how this couple navigates the keyboard to make great music together, according to a news release. Encinitas Cruise Nights
The Encinitas 101 MainStreet Association has started its 26th annual presentation of Encinitas Cruise Nights, including new and familiar car clubs and awesome local live bands.

Local galleries Oolong and Brown Studio team up for latest exhibit, artist talk
A duo show split between The Brown Studio in Encinitas and Rancho Santa Fe’s Oolong Gallery will celebrate with an artist talk, rock’ n’ roll performance and Art Party on Saturday, May 31 at The Brown Studio in Encinitas. Oolong founder Eric Laine is hosting this special event for the gallery’s latest show ”A to L and Back Again” featuring LA friends and artists Nick Aguayo and Dan Levenson which will be on display at the two locations through June 5.
Ian Svenonius will moderate the artist talk at the May 31 event. Svenonius, the former host of his own music talk show called “Soft Focus,” will moderate the artist talk and later also perform with his musical group Escape-ism for the Art Party. The artist talk begins at 4 p.m., Escape-ism will perform at 6 p.m. and the Art Party will continue from 7-9 p.m. at the Brown Studio at 1144 N. Coast Highway in Encinitas. San Diego Italian Film Festival to feature ‘Orlando’ at La Paloma Theatre
San Diego Italian Film Festival presents Orlando on Thursday, June 12, 7 p.m. at La Paloma Theatre, Encinitas. Orlando is an aged musician from a small town in central Italy who lost his wife years ago and now lives alone, playing the accordion at weddings and working the land. Valerio, his only child, left for Brussels soon after his mother’s death, which led Orlando to cut all ties with him.
However, when he reaches out to his father to ask for help, Orlando feels he must oblige. For the first time in his life, he leaves the town and travels to Brussels to see Valerio, only to arrive when it is too late. His son is dead, leaving behind a nine-year-old daughter, Lyse. Now, a new life for Orlando awaits…

Switchfoot Bro-Am concert
Switchfoot Bro-Am returns for its 21st year, with the Benefit Party and then the Beach Fest, celebrating music, surfing and community while raising money for San Diego youth beneficiaries. Encinitas Guitar Orchestra to hold ‘Through the Ages’ concert
The Encinitas Guitar Orchestra, under the direction of Peter Pupping, invites all on a musical journey June 6 at 7:30 p.m. themed Through the Ages. This unique concert will feature a 35-member guitar ensemble performing a chronological program that spans centuries of musical history.
The evening begins in the Renaissance with works by John Dowland, followed by selections from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto and Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The program then transitions into the Romantic and modern eras with Manuel de Falla’s La Vida Breve and Isaac Albéniz’s iconic Asturias, arranged for guitar orchestra. The journey concludes with powerful renditions of Holst’s Jupiter, Mason Williams’ Classical Gas, and Pat Metheny’s Awakening.The event will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (925 Balour Dr., Encinitas). Chorale to perform audience favorites
The San Diego Master Chorale concludes this season with a concert, Mixtape, at 4 p.m. May 31 at Coronado Performing Arts Center, 650 D Ave., Coronado, and 4 p.m. June 1 at San Dieguito United Methodist Church, 170 Calle Magdalena, Encinitas. The program features top-voted selections including the audience’s No. 1 pick, “Yesterday” by The Beatles, “Shenandoah,” and Mozart’s “Requiem” — a favorite among both audience and singers.
The concerts will also include Billy Joel’s “And So It Goes,” with a special appearance by the San Diego Children’s Choir during the performance in Coronado. The concerts will include “Requests” chosen from more than 50 write-in submissions, along with “Bonus Tracks” and a live audience vote during the concert to select the encore. Orchid show at botanic garden
The San Diego Botanic Garden runs its annual spring orchids show, “World of Orchids,” through June 1 in the glass-enclosed Dickinson Family Education Conservatory, 300 Quail Gardens Drive. The show includes plants on loan from the San Diego County Orchid Society and the Palomar Orchid Society, along with local businesses. There will be classes and vendors on select weekends. Garden hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Tuesdays). Reservations are recommended.
