Temperatures across San Diego County will be 6 to 15 degrees above average this week as a high pressure system settles in, replacing the weak storm that spritzed the region on Saturday and Sunday, the National Weather Service says.
San Diego’s daytime high is expected to be 69 on Monday, 75 on Tuesday, 76 on Wednesday and Thursday, and 73 on Friday. The seasonal high is 69.
It will be significantly hotter in Escondido, which is expected to reach 78 on Monday, 86 on Tuesday, 89 on Wednesday and Thursday, and 85 on Friday.
Forecasters say it is likely that some spots in the county’s inland valleys will reach 100 late in the week. The heat is of concern to firefighters because seasonal rainfall inland is far below normal.
Escondido has received 8.20 inches of precipitation since the rainy season began on October 1. That’s 5.99 inches below normal.
