The Belly Up Tavern came alive with music, dancing, and community spirit on Tuesday night, March 11, as three local bands ed forces for a high-energy benefit concert in of the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). The event, which sold over 325 tickets, was a celebration of music and comion, raising both funds and awareness for WRC’s essential services for those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault, according to a news release.

The evening kicked off with the dynamic sounds of April and the Funk Junkies, whose infectious grooves got the crowd moving from the first note. Radio 80s followed with a nostalgic blast of retro hits. The night closed with an empowering and high-energy performance by Man! I Feel Like Shania, a tribute to Shania Twain that brought the house down.

The Women’s Resource Center has been a cornerstone of in North San Diego County since 1974, offering shelter, counseling, education, and advocacy for women, children, and men impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Events like this help ensure that WRC can continue to provide the highest quality care and services to those in need.

In addition to the funds raised at the concert, Colleen Morgans of the Mabel Collective generously donated 10% of the day’s sales to the cause.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the bands, volunteers, businesses and everyone who came out to this event,” said a representative from WRC in the news release. “It’s inspiring to see people come together through music and generosity.”

•April and the Funk Junkies will perform at a Belly Up Happy Hour in Solana Beach on Friday, May 30 at 5:30 p.m. and at the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar, Michelob Ultra Stage, on Wednesday, July 2, at 9:30 p.m.

•Radio 80s will perform at The Kraken in Cardiff on Friday, May 30 at 9 p.m.

•Man! I Feel Like Shania will perform at the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar, Paddock Stage, on Wednesday, June 18 at 5:15 p.m.
