CIF San Diego Section Girls Lacrosse Championships

Open Division: (2) Cathedral Catholic (14-5) vs. (1) Coronado (18-0), 7 p.m. 

Preview: Coronado is ranked No. 10 in the nation by MaxPreps.com. The Islanders lost to Torrey Pines 12-9 in last year’s Open Division title game. Coronado and Cathedral have met twice this season, with Coronado winning 12-11 and 14-10. Sisters Breck Dunn (45 goals) and Sydney Dunn (31 goals) lead Coronado in scoring. Eight players have scored more than 10 goals. Islanders coach Caroline Carlson graduated from Coronado in 2013 and played on teams that won the Division 2 title in 2011 and ’12. The Islanders also won the Division 1 crown in 2022. … Cathedral Catholic is led by freshman Lia Palecek (85 goals) and sophomore Lily Raiszadeh (59 goals). Goalie Lyla Palecek is committed to the University of Denver. The Dons won Division 1 titles in 2014 and ’19.
