Rancho Bernardo Community Park’s sidewalks had a colorful array of images on Saturday as locals expressed their creativity with chalk.
The 15th annual Chalk It Up sidewalk chalk art competition, organized by the Rancho Bernardo Community Council, attracted 63 entrants.
“It was the lowest (turnout) we have had since our first one in 2010 due to the weather,” said RBCC President Robin Kaufman. “Misting a lot, a little drizzle and even rain. … But they all said they had fun.”
All who came received cookies from Casa de las Campanas, water bottles from Albertson’s, a coupon for a free chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A and had access to “a massive basket with candy in it.”
