What are specific concerns about President Trump?
Your April 24 headline, “Several hundred people rally in Rancho Bernardo against Trump, Musk” was spot on. Simply anti-Trump. Well not simply Trump. With modifiers: king, Nazis, oligarchy. Where do you get such ideas? The article was a follow from an opinion piece the previous week. I’m guessing anti-Trump events will continue to be chronicled and archived for as long as they occur.
No specific offending Trump policy was detailed in the article. Mostly general concerns. Some believe Trump/Musk disregard the constitution and due process. Someone was concerned about the rule of law. Probably all are worried and horrified about Trump/Musk period. DOGE is definitely not cool. Definitely not cool. Excepting DOGE, the policies aren’t new. The Department of government efficiency. Is that a bad thing?
The stated goal of the protest is to elect progressives and rebuild democracy. I’m more or less reasonably satisfied with the democracy we have. If progressives succeed then we’d have a couple varieties of democracy. And your kind of democracy doesn’t play well with mine. My kind winds up getting burned and vandalized or on rocket ship to Mars (presumably one way). In the name of democracy.
I don’t have much confidence in a progressive’s ability to rebuild anything that I’d recognize or want.

Some facts for perspective
This is in response to Harvey Levine’s April 15 Just Sayin’ column, “The message of Easter and over.”
Federal cuts in research are primarily centered around spending on excessive istrative costs, which have exploded, and not basic research.
Further, independent studies show massive redundancy in research projects, many developing no new insights. Not all research is valid.
Medicaid has expanded to the point that it is estimated that 40% or more of able-bodied men collecting Medicaid coverage for free simply refuse to work. A large majority of Americans think this is wrong.
I could go on and on. We are $36 trillion in debt with an interest payment of $1 trillion a year and rising fast, projected to be $3 trillion in 3030. IF interest rates stay low.
For nothing. Democrats have offered no solution. Speaking of hands off.
The State of California and City of San Diego are making many cuts to spending that have nothing to do with federal cuts. Where is Mr. Levine’s outrage on this?
