History buffs are expected to converge on Julian April 26-27 to participate in a re-enactment of the battles of Lexington and Concord, which marked the start of the American War of Independence in 1775.
The event, known as Revolution in the Orchard, will celebrate the 250th anniversary of those historic battles in the fields of Julian Farm and Orchard.
Volunteer historians and re-enactors will share living history of the American War of Independence (1775-1783) through battle re-enactments with muskets and cannons and recreations of daily life in those times.
The family-friendly event features dozens of historical interpreters representing soldiers and civilians of the American Revolution, giving demonstrations of daily and military life. Visitors can meet Gen. George Washington, portrayed by a re-enactor, along with other historical figures dressed in authentic period attire.
There will also be a chance for attendees to the recreated colonial militia and learn how to march. Local merchants and 18th-century re-enacters will sell goods and crafts along with food.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26-27 at Julian Farm and Orchard, 4381 Julian Hwy. Cost is $10 per person over the age of 3. Tickets are onsite and at https://www.julianfarmandorchard.com/revolution-in-the-orchard
