More than 500 pieces of artwork will be displayed at the Eye on Art Student Showcase being held this month at the Poway High School campus.
The showcase held every spring will feature student made paintings, ceramics, floral designs, photography and digital media.
Poway High robotics coach Rodger Dohm’s students will also display creative selections of architecture, 3-D animation and items made in an Intro to Design class.
Additionally, construction and automotive technology students will display their handicrafts.
The event draws a crowd of curious spectators each year, said Poway High drawing and painting teacher Heidi Hensey.
“There’s going to be a great turnout,” she said. “There’s excellent pieces. Every year it’s great.”
Eye on Art will be held in the N-300 arts building at Poway High, 15500 Espola Road.
A reception begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 in the courtyard outside that building that will be accompanied by live music by the student jazz band. Doors to the showcase will open at 7 p.m.
Then at 8 p.m. a Film Festival will start. The festival consists of film shorts that students created and entered in a contest, Hensey said.
“People can watch the films and judge them,” she said.
Attendees can scan a QR code on the event flier to be able to purchase artwork for T-shirts, phone cases and other accessories at an online gift shop. The proceeds will go toward the school’s drawing and painting classes, Hensey said.
