Tickets are on sale now for the 10th Annual Healthy Aging Conference, on Friday, April 25, at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club. This event offers attendees the opportunity to gain valuable insights from leading experts in the field of aging, enjoy a delicious lunch, explore senior resources, and win exciting prizes. The cost to attend is $40 per person, which includes lunch. Proceeds from the conference will the RSF Senior Center. The Sandwich Generation
Tuesday, April 1, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. with Southern Caregiver Resource Center Community Outreach Specialist Jessica Romero. us in learning about the term and meaning of “sandwich generation,” identify the challenges faced by the caregivers who fall into this category and explore ways in which to incorporate self-care while caring for both elders and school-age children. Jessica is an accomplished healthcare and social services with a Master of Public Health.
Line Dancing with Heather Leon
Tuesday, April 1, from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. In this fun, 60- minute class, you will learn basic line dance steps and choreography with Heather who has over four decades of dance experience with a B.A. in modern dance choreography from UCLA. She is also a Pilates Master with 30 years of experience. There is a $20 fee paid to the instructor.
Paint with Alex
Wednesday, April 2 and 16, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. All level painters are welcome to us in the studio with working artist and educator Alex Schaefer. Learn techniques to further your painting skills. Bring your own artwork and supplies (acrylic, oil, or watercolor) to work with Alex and fellow artists. There is a $20 fee per class paid to the instructor.
Long-term Care Advocacy
Tuesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Linda Jahnke is a board-certified patient advocate and long-term care professional, who specializes in helping clients navigate the often confusing and difficult process of making a claim and receiving the benefits provided by your insurance policy.
4-week Beginner Mah Jongg with Grace Decker
Each Wednesday, April 16, 23, 30 and May 7, from 9:30 – 12:30 p.m. Learn the basics of playing American Mah Jongg according to the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and guidelines. Small class with individual attention, hands-on activity and real time play. Learn the tiles, rules, play and strategy. There is a $250 fee paid to instructor and includes a copy of the 2025 NMJL Card.
Book Club with the Rancho Santa Fe Librarians
Wednesday, April 23, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. us for a lively discussion at the Senior Center of “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. A Pulitzer Prize winner braids a sweeping story of spirit, obsession, and injustice across American history. Pick up your copy of the book at the Rancho Santa Fe Library or a copy using your Libby app.
ONGOING CLASSES
Healthy Longevity Class
Monday (weekly) from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Dr. Abraham Kim from Synaptic Integrated Medicine to explore health longevity practices incorporating qi gong, acupressure, and tai chi movements. This class will focus on techniques to enhance balance, coordination, energy, and long-term neurological health and resilience. Dr. Abraham will share insights from his expertise in integrated medicine in neurology and longevity practices, offering valuable tips on preventing aging health conditions and optimizing overall well-being. A $10 courtesy fee is requested per session per person.
Open Play Mah Jongg
Monday (weekly) from 10 a.m. – noon. Enjoy a friendly game of beginner American Mahjongg, a tile-based game that is enjoyed by individuals throughout the world! A basic understanding of the tiles and rules is required.
Texas Hold’em Poker Lessons for Beginners
Monday (weekly) from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. This beginner’s class is designed to teach the fundamentals of Texas Hold’em in a fun and engaging environment. Chips and cards are provided, and ongoing open poker play will be available for beginners. This class is ideal for absolute beginners with no prior poker experience. Calling All Chess Players!
Tuesday (weekly) – 2 p.m. -4 p.m. Come and enjoy a friendly game of chess at the Senior Center and get a workout for your brain! Research has found evidence that playing chess may result in improved brain function, memory, cognitive abilities, and strategic thinking. Each Tuesday, enjoy a friendly game of chess at the RSF Senior Center. All levels of players are welcome. Free instruction is provided for beginners. Tables and playing pieces are furnished.
Self-Comion for Stress Reduction with Ann Nye, Ph.D.
Thursday (weekly) from 9:30- 9:55 a.m. Lower stress through guided and silent meditation using the works of Jack Kornfield and Pema Chodron. Enjoy a 5-minute guided meditation followed by 20 minutes of silent meditation.
Chair Yoga
Thursday (weekly) 10 a.m.-11: a.m. Peggie Moore, a certified yoga instructor, Reiki Master, and BEWELL Yoga for Cancer teacher, offers a weekly outdoor, in-person chair yoga class. This class will teach you techniques to improve core strength and balance, increase flexibility, and reduce stress. There is a $10 per person fee paid to the instructor. The first class is free.
Conversational Spanish – Friday (weekly)
Beginner/Intermediate class 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. and Intermediate class 2: p.m. – 3: p.m. Jeannette Caruth learned Spanish solely through conversation and invites you to become more familiar with the language. Each class is a one- hour adventure of hearing and speaking another language. All levels are welcome. There is a $10 fee per class paid to the instructor.

UCSD is seeking participants for The Women’s Memory Study. You must be female, age 65 or older, and no formal diagnosis of dementia. Results from this study could help develop specialized therapies for both men and women at risk for Alzheimer’s. With study completion, participants will receive a $300 Visa Gift Card.
