The closure of a stretch of ocean water because of a sewage spill at the end of Vista de la Playa in La Jolla was lifted the afternoon of March 17 after the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality determined it was safe for swimmers.
“Recent water quality observations indicate that sewage is no longer visibly present in the water,” the department said in a statement issued at about 3:25 p.m.
The closure was announced the night of March 15 for the water 150 feet north to 150 feet south of Vista de la Playa.
The county said at the time that the water would be closed “until sampling and field observations confirm these areas are safe for water .”
Details about the sewage spill were not immediately available.
