
A stretch of ocean at the end of Vista de la Playa in La Jolla has been closed to swimmers because of a sewage spill, the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality announced the night of March 15.
The affected water is 150 feet north to 150 feet south of Vista de la Playa, according to a statement from the department at 8:20 p.m.
“Beach-goers are advised that the ocean water contains sewage and may cause illness,” the statement said. “Ocean waters will remain closed until sampling and field observations confirm these areas are safe for water .”
Details about the sewage spill were not immediately available.
