December Nights returns to Balboa Park this Friday and Saturday. Visitors can get there in multiple ways throughout the event, which runs from 3 to 11 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Here are some tips to navigate December Nights:

  1. The public can park for free at lots in and around Balboa Park, including at the San Diego Zoo and San Diego City College.
  2. Paid parking alternatives at Balboa Park consist of Lots A and B, which costs from $27.95 to $45 and can be purchased in advance. Roosevelt Middle School will open its gates and allow parking for $40 per space.
  3. Free shuttle services will be available to take visitors to the Cabrillo Bridge and El Prado from various stops near Balboa Park, including at Third Avenue and Beech Street, the corner of 16th and B streets and the San Diego Zoo.
  4. The Metropolitan Transit System’s bus routes 3, 7 and 120 stop at or near Balboa Park. Fairs are $2.50 one way and youth ages 18 years and under can ride for free with a Pronto card or Pronto app . Plus, MTS is offering special free bus services to and from the City College Transit Center and Balboa Park during December Nights.
  5. Bike and scooter riders can store them in designated areas.

Visitors to the event can also the December Nights Mobile Experience which will include some information on parking, according to city officials.
