Holiday celebration aimed at women

A holiday celebration for women will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2 at Las Flores Church, 1400 Las Flores Drive. There will be 12 decorated trees on display, with one tree ready to be raffled off and a tree to be donated to a local family in need. Tree lighting celebration at The Forum

Holiday event at Carrillo Ranch

Holiday at the Rancho is from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, 6200 Flying L.C. Lane. The event features a tree lighting at 6 p.m., a visit from Santa, train rides, a plush snowball arena, crafts, cookie decorating and a holiday movie on the outdoor screen at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $10; free for ages 3 and younger. Rotary holds annual tree lighting event

The Rotary Club of Carlsbad’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 8 in the south parking lot of the Carlsbad Village Faire shopping center, at 300 Carlsbad Village Drive. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 2 p.m. in a procession that includes Mayor Keith Blackburn and other dignitaries. Christ Presbyterian Church hosts an Advent Workshop at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 with crafts on the patio. A Children’s Nativity Play is at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Dec. 8 and the Sounds of Christmas musical celebration (band, praise team, choir), at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Dec. 15. A free interactive walk-through Christmas story is from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at 7807 Centella St., including Bible characters and live animals. Holiday festival at Village Walk

A free holiday festival is from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at Village Walk at EastLake. Santa will come on the Holiday Express and visit with children. There will be free train rides and holiday entertainment, photos, free holiday crafts for children. Parol Lantern Festival

The 28th annual Parol Lantern Festival is from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at Eastlake High School Gym, 1120 Eastlake Parkway. The Philippine Performing Arts Company will show its collection of parols, traditional Philippine star lanterns crafted from delicate capiz shells.  A traditional Philippine Village adorned with holiday decorations will be on display. Holiday parade

A holiday parade takes off at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 featuring local organizations, clubs and businesses with lights and costumes from the Ferry Landing, down Orange Avenue, to the Hotel del Coronado. North Pole by the Sea

Family-friendly festivities for North Pole by the Sea kick off at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 throughout the Del Mar Village, including photos with Santa and letters to Santa at Del Mar Plaza, holiday characters, carolers, live music until 5 p.m., hot chocolate and drinks for adults from 4 to 6 p.m. at L’Auberge Del Mar Amphitheater, Camino Del Mar and 15th Street. Homeless shelter gives guided tours at open house

East County Transitional Living Center will hold a “Taste of TLC” Open House with guided tours from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at 1527 E. Main St. There will be food and information about the center’s programs and resources for community in need. Attendees can meet the center’s leaders, participants, graduates and community partners. Laurel & Hardy club screens movies

ENCINITAS

Lighting of Encinitas Heritage Tree

The annual Lighting of Encinitas Heritage Tree, a Norfolk pine planted in 1952 at Fourth Street and C Street, is from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 6 hosted by the Encinitas Historical Society, city of Encinitas and Encinitas Rotary Club at the upper parking lot at Moonlight Beach. Highlights include a performance by Jack Tempchin, a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The program will also feature holiday carols by the San Diego North Coast Singers and three “EnSINGnitas” children’s choirs along with the choirs of Paul Ecke Elementary School and Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School. The local band Free Verse will open the show with holiday classics. Santa and Mrs. Claus are slated to make an appearance. ission is free. Fallbrook’s 43rd annual Christmas parade, themed “Festival of Lights,” starts at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 on Main Street in downtown Fallbrook, hosted by the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce. Annual holiday bonfire Dec. 6

Lemon Grove hosts its annual free Community Bonfire from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in Treganza Park, 3200 Main St. Lighting of the bonfire and welcome from the mayor will be at 6 p.m. The Ugly Sweater Contest is at 7 p.m. There will be a game truck, live music, a bounce house and crafts along with free hot chocolate, popcorn and cookies. OCEANSIDE

Pearl Harbor remembrance

A  Pearl Harbor Day remembrance ceremony for the community is at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at the Little Fishing Pier to honor the more than 2,400 soldiers, sailors, and Marines who were killed during the Pearl Harbor Attack on Dec. 7, 1941. The community will gather, and as is the tradition, toss rose petals into the harbor at the end of the ceremony, in memory of those who died at Pearl Harbor. In the past, of North County’s Chapter 31 of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association have led this ceremony, but they have ed away. Holiday Craft Bazaar on Dec. 7

The artists at Rancho Calevero Mobile Home Park will host a Holiday Craft Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7 in the clubhouse at 3570 Calevero Lane. About 20 artists will be selling a variety of handcrafted items such as jewelry, crocheted items, weavings, macrame, olive oil soap, lavender bath products and glass garden ornaments. There will be snacks and drinks.

Cultural Celebration at library

The Oceanside Public Library holds a Cultural Celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at the John Landes Community Center, 2855 Cedar Road. The event will celebrate the Samoan and Mexican communities in Tri-City as part of the grand finale of the library’s Community Connections cultural program series. Tree lighting, Santa at plaza

Chorale looking for singers

The SD Master Chorale will hold auditions for new singers and is accepting Audition Request Forms from San Diego residents age 18 and older until Dec. 2. The 130-member chorale includes primarily volunteer singers and a paid core of staff singers. The group performs a range of music from symphonic to chamber works, sacred music to Broadway, and masterworks to contemporary choral works. Weekly rehearsals are typically from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays at First United Methodist Church in Mission Valley. There are additional rehearsals the week before a concert. Ocean Beach holds its annual holiday parade at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 along Newport Avenue. La Jolla parade and festival

La Jolla holds a Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival with the theme “’Palm Trees & Poinsettias — A California Christmas’” on Dec. 8. Candlelight Musical Meditation

City Lights, an immersive journey through light and sound, runs every 30 minutes from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Dec. 6 to Jan. 19 at Quartyard, 301 Market St., in East Village. Participants walk through six unique zones combining digital art and interactive installations, with each choreographed light and sound performance inspired by aspects of city life. San Diego Food Bank holds holiday food drive

The Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank holds its 44th annual Holiday Food Drive through Jan. 1. Community can drop off nonperishable food at Albertsons, Vons or Pavilions supermarkets. Toy and gift drive for patients

La Maestra Community Health Centers and Mission Fed Credit Union hold the annual Toy and Gift Drive through Dec. 6. 66th annual Christmas parade

The Vista Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas parade is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 in downtown Vista.
