Scripps Coastal Reserve closure makes UCSD grad ’embarrassed’

I couldn’t agree more with Frank Kunst (“Closure of Scripps Coastal Reserve needs to end,” Our Readers Write, Oct. 3, La Jolla Light). Every day that UC San Diego keeps Scripps Coastal Reserve closed to the public is an insult to us as taxpayers.

The university is behaving as if they are above the law as they continue with their illegal closure while wasting years of the public’s time [and] … applying to the [California] Coastal Commission to make their closure permanent.

Scripps Coastal Reserve ‘managed access’ plan headed for Coastal Commission hearing

It is imperative that UC San Diego not only complies with the [California Coastal Act] but that they fire every university employee that has knowingly taken part in the Coastal Act violations.

Until they do so, I strongly feel that all donations to the university should be withheld. This istration has made me embarrassed to be an alumnus of a university that I was once proud to have graduated from.
