Kellogg Park parking plan will only make things worse
Your article about a plan to put a parking lot in our public Kellogg Park showed a slim vote by the La Jolla Shores Association board (“Latest proposal for La Jolla Shores parking gets narrow from board,” Aug. 22, La Jolla Light).
This is a huge project and should have been a unanimous vote by the board.
This parking lot is for the restaurants that already have commandeered our parking on Avenida de la Playa and closed the street for four years. Camino del Oro is considered by The Shores neighborhood to be open space with the berm. This area has no parking on the west side, with a free flow along the coast, beaches and the park. The city planners put red along the curb for a reason, to keep it as an open street, so why change this?
As proposed, this parking would be at the exit and entrance to the Kellogg parking lot. Just imagine — this will cause a worse nightmare of a traffic jam every day.
We have given the merchants years to transform our neighborhood to their advantage. Open Avenida de la Playa and then go find your parking.
