George Takei and John Cho, who each portrayed the beloved character Sulu in different productions of “Star Trek,” will discuss the science of storytelling Tuesday during a public talk at UC San Diego’s Epstein Family Amphitheater.

The talk, tied to this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the new outdoor venue next to the university’s Blue Line light-rail station. Ticket information is available at amphitheater.ucsd.edu.

Takei, 87, played Sulu in the original “Star Trek” TV series and in six Star Trek movies. Cho, 52, played Sulu in three “Star Trek” films. Over the years, the franchise, in its various forms, has generated about $10.7 billion in revenue.
