Beginning Friday, border crossers will have an additional two hours to use the trusted traveler lanes on weekends

UPDATED:

Operation hours for the vehicle SENTRI lanes at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry will be temporarily extended by two hours starting this weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Friday.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours will be 4 a.m. to midnight until further notice. The 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. schedule will remain Monday through Thursday.

“To enhance our service for Trusted Traveler Program , vehicular traffic operating hours are temporarily expanding,” said Otay Mesa Port Director Rosa E. Hernandez in a press release. “This extension aims to streamline wait times during the summer season while facilitating a more seamless border crossing experience for travelers utilizing the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.”

The SENTRI pedestrian lanes at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry are open 24 hours a day. Same for SENTRI vehicle lanes at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
