Local volunteer-run nonprofit, the Huntington’s Disease Society of America San Diego Chapter, is inviting all pickleball enthusiasts to their annual round-robin pickleball tournament on Saturday, June 22, at Bobby Riggs Racket & Paddle, 875 Santa Fe Dr., Encinitas.

Proceeds go towards improving the lives of all people affected by HD through research, services and education.

This fun-filled tournament welcomes players of all levels and abilities. The Huntington’s Disease Society of America San Diego Chapter is hoping to build on previous years’ successes by increasing their fundraising goal to $12,000 through participants and event sponsors. Participants are requested to at san-diego.hdsa.org/pickleball. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams of each level.

Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder which is regularly described as having Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and ALS – simultaneously. Gene positive people will often have their physical and mental abilities deteriorate during their prime working years. Each child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene that causes the disease. Visit san-diego.hdsa.org for more information.
