UPDATED:

For several years now graduating seniors who attended Carmel Creek Elementary School have been attending a reunion event at Carmel Creek at graduation time. This year the reunion event had one of the biggest attendance ever, according to a news release. The Carmel Creek alumni walked around the school, got to meet the new principal, saw some of their teachers, went through the hallways, and sat in the chairs that seem impossibly small now. It was an afternoon with lots of laughs and one of the highlights was when the former Carmel Creek students all stood in a big circle, and each shared a memory that made an impact in their lives that took place at Carmel Creek and then spoke about their next steps in life.

Solana Beach School District board member Julie Union attended the event. She has had a positive impact on the former students’ lives, the news release stated. Participants hope this reunion event tradition continues as it is special and the alumni are reminded of their roots, and that they are not alone as they embark on their next steps in life.
