
After a five-week strike, the University of California and United Auto Workers, the union that represents graduate student workers, have reached a tentative labor agreement.
If of the union approve the , it will end the nation’s largest-ever strike of academic workers, which included 48,000 teaching assistants, researchers and others.
Voting will take place this week, and the results should be available Friday evening after 8 p.m.
Beatrice Waterhouse is a third-year PhD student and a teaching assistant at UC San Diego. If ed, she said the agreement will mean larger paychecks that will allow her to stop using food stamps.
