Martiza Garcia is an activist with the Environmental Health Coalition, who grew up in Logan Heights and now fights for cleaner air in her neighborhood. She’s also an artist who makes crochet clothing and sculptures and she’s a new mom.

In this conversation, Garcia shares what it was like to grow up in Barrio Logan and Logan Heights, where soot piles up on surfaces and children experience asthma at a high rates. We also talked about the life-giving nature of art, and how life has changed since becoming a parent.
