The San Diego Gulls are proving to be a team of streaks so far in the AHL season.

Coming off a five-game winning streak, the Gulls, who have fallen into seventh place with an 8-9-1-0 record, dropped a 4-2 Pacific Division decision at the Ontario Reign on Friday night. The teams will motor down the freeway to play at 7 p.m. tonight in Pechanga Arena. The Reign are in second place with a 13-4-0-1 mark.

The Gulls got off to a fast start when Jacob Perreault scored his sixth of the season at 3:11 of the first period. However, Ontario tied it a little over 90 seconds later.

In the second period, the Reign took a 2-1 lead at 11:36 before San Diego’s Greg Pateryn tied it at 18:35 with his second goal of the season.

Ontario’s Brayden Burke scored at 1:06 of the third period and the Gulls were chansing to tie it the entire period. Tyler Madden put the game on ice with an empty-net goal with 52 seconds left.

The Gulls were out-shot 10-3 in the final 20 minutes and 26-17 for the game.

Lukas Dostal made 22 saves for San Diego.
